<image:title>Dance Science</image:title>
<image:caption>I believe in a holistic approach to dance education merging technical, artistic, and scientific practices in both the classroom and studio settings. Incorporation of both kinesthetic and visual components help to create moments of mindfulness, discovery, and application. When students are able to analyze movement, viewing aesthetic, technical, and scientific components, they gain a more intimate understanding of how their own body works. This inspires practical, personal application but hopefully also instills in students the ability to pass this information on to the next generation to create smarter, safer, and more thoughtful dancers and educators. Thus, more than a technique, students are developing the way they think about dance.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I seek to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, where students feel safe in asking questions and applying knowledge in clinical scenarios. <image:title>Research</image:title>
<image:caption>My interest in research stems from a desire to progress, educate, and inform the dance community disseminating best practices for dancers, educators, and medical practitioners in all settings. My current research investigates contemporary and modern dance techniques present in both the concert dance and commercial dance culture. This research would shed new light on these specific dance styles with emphasis on topics ranging from biomechanics, movement education, motor control/motor learning, performance enhancement, and injury prevention.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Hello!</image:title>
<image:caption>I’m Chad Van Ramshorst, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Adjunct Professor at Chapman University in both the Undergraduate Dance Department and Graduate Physical Therapy Program. Movement has always been my passion, starting with dance and growing to include the medicine and science of movement. My interest in physical therapy began after a complicated, accidental injury as a child. After a year of physical therapy to be able to walk again, I continued on my own journey to get back to doing what I love, dance. My practice as physical therapist and educator contributes to my ongoing practice as a dancer and mover, just as my passion for dance and movement inspired my passion for physical therapy. Thank you for your interest!</image:caption>

<image:caption>My training began at the Orange County High School of the Arts, during which time I was represented by Clear Talent Agency and working commercially in Los Angeles. I then attended Chapman University, receiving my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance Performance, during which time I performed with Bare Dance Company, Backhaus Dance, and Gallimaufry & Greene.
